Please read the nomination (below) that was lovingly researched and created by Domingo's current leaser Dorothy! We are very sad to announce that we have had to say good-bye to our beautiful appaloosa gelding Toledo. Toledo has been a fixture in the Foxcroft lesson program for over 20 years. Toledo came from humble beginnings. He arrived on the back of a horse trader’s truck as a thin 6 year-old with little training. But, he had a kind nature and a willing attitude and quickly became a part of the school horse roster. As a youngster, Toledo was a fun mount for our more experienced riders. He jumped, schooled XC and was part of our competitive squad. He was a reliable jumper and always had a lovely canter. He also had a fairly agile buck that he demonstrated on occasion. He trained more than a few riders to keep their heels down.
Over the years, Toledo shifted to quieter work, and became most valuable teaching our younger riders and novice adults. Toledo was gentle and kind, helping riders through their early riding experiences. He enjoyed being groomed and was friendly and sweet. Toledo was humanely euthanized at the Ontario Veterinary College at age 26. We will miss you Toledo. September 2018 |
